Made over fifty years ago, these drypoints reveal the meticulous technical skill and introspective vision that would define Spare's career. Following his studies, Spare went on to hone his printmaking skills at Thomas Ross & Son of Putney, where he worked on plates by Turner, Stubbs, and other masters, before becoming one of Britain's most respected printmakers—editioning work for David Hockney, Jasper Johns, Robert Ryman, and Keith Haring, among others.
