We are so happy to learn that, for the first time, Richard and Kay have been selected to exhibit in the Royal Academy of Arts' Summer Exhibition together.
This is Kay's 1st Summer Exhibition and Richard's 31st.
The Royal Academy of Arts' Summer Exhibition is largest and most prestigious Open Exhibition in the world - having been held annually, without fail, since 1768.
[Jaunty Blue Throat by Richard Spare, Large Weston Room - curated by Cornelia Parker CBE RA]
Available exclusively through the Royal Academy of Arts' Summer Exhibition 2024
A small Robin-like bird, the male is unmistakable in spring with his bright blue throat, bordered below with bands of black, white and chestnut. Its central throat spot can be white or chestnut, depending on which subspecies you are looking at 'white-spotted' or the more numerous 'red-spotted'. They can be quite secretive, flicking into the cover of a bush with a flash of their chestnut tail patches.
[Almond and the Tulips by Kay Spare, Large Weston Room - curated by Cornelia Parker CBE RA]
Available exclusively through the Royal Academy of Arts' Summer Exhibition 2024
Almond belongs to artist Bianca Raffaella, he is an extremely beautiful if rather wilful black cat who loves flowers. Roses are his favourite (no more tulips for Almond as we have discovered that tulips are poisonous to cats! 😮
Jaunty Blue Throat (catalogue no.357) and Almond and the Tulips (catalogue no.353) are both located in the 'bright blue room' curated by Cornelia Parker CBE RA - Large Weston Room of the Royal Academy of Arts' 2024 Summer Exhibition (The 256th).
Open to the public: June 18th to August 18th 2024.
