Richard drew this piece directly from his breakfast table, when he was a student at Maidstone Art College in 1972/3. It was a still life of his breakfast in the kitchen of his student flat share. He says breakfast was then the most important meal of the day, when, as an impoverished student he occasionally treated himself to a rasher of bacon! He still sees this print as an important record of ‘home’ as a student. The print was published later, c.1989 and was likely exhibited at the Museum of the Home, as part of Images in the City, a group exhibition held in the summer of 2005.
