Context
A small flock of eager Redwing often makes an annual visit to the holly tree in our front garden, gorging themselves on the bright berries. It is always a treat to see these precious visitors from Scandinavia. We hope to see them again this year, but we are aware that it is tough for many species, as climate change causes extreme weather events, which in turn impact migration patterns and survival. The Redwing has been uplisted to ‘near threatened’ by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Cold, wet summers can have a disastrous effect on breeding.
